Make your own Bag Strap

Got a bag that needs a new strap? Or maybe you’ve made a gorgeous bag and now need the perfect finishing touch?
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to make your own fabric bag strap from scratch. We’ll cover cutting, patchwork, folding and sewing your strap so you end up with something strong, practical and actually looks good too.
You’ll learn the tricks to getting those nice neat edges, making a sturdy strap and attaching the hardware so it’s ready to go on your bag.
And the best bit? Once you know how to make them, you can make straps in whatever fabric you like. Match your bag, contrast it, use up some of those favourite scraps or make one just because you like the fabric. No judgement here. 😉
This is a great little workshop if you’re building your sewing skills, want to learn a useful technique or have a bag project that’s missing that final piece.
Come along, make a strap, learn a new sewing trick and leave with something you can actually use. Because sometimes it’s the little bits of sewing knowledge that end up being the most useful.

What to Bring: Woven Fabric Scraps (5cm wide to be sewn together to make 3m), Backing (can be patchwork or whole cloth 5cm x 3m), 2 x Swivel Hooks, 1 Belt Slider, 2 x Rectangle or D Rings (all Hardware needs to be the same width), Sewing Machine & Attachments (including Walking foot if you have one), Sewing Kit (rotary cutter, small quilting ruler, binding clips, scissors etc.), Matching Thread, Quilting Thread, Morning Tea, Water/Drink
